Our Process

Pattern & Block Designing

We understand that every project is unique, which is why we take the time to listen to your ideas, understand your aesthetic, and collaborate with you to create patterns that reflect your vision and identity. Whether you have a clear vision in mind or need guidance in exploring creative possibilities, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Once the pattern design is finalized, the next step is to create the wooden blocks that will be used to print the pattern onto the fabric. This involves carving the design into wood, a process that requires a high level of craftsmanship

Fabric selection & Processing

Fabric selection and processing are crucial steps in the hand block printing process. The choice of fabric and how it is prepared significantly impact the final quality and appearance of the printed textiles
The fabric chosen for handblock printing must meet specific criteria to ensure it works well with the dyes and printing techniques
Once the fabric is selected, it undergoes several processing steps to prepare it for handblock printing. These steps are essential to ensure the dye adheres properly, the colors remain vibrant, and the final product is of high quality

Sampling & Approval

Sampling and approval are critical stages in the handblock printing process, especially when producing custom designs which require specific patterns, colors, and fabric types. These steps ensure that the final product meets the client’s expectations and adheres to quality standards.
Sampling allows the client to see how the design will look on the actual fabric, including how colors, patterns, and textures interact and ensures that the quality of the printing, the fabric, and the colors meet the required standards before moving into full production

Printing & Production

Dyes are prepared, depending on the desired color palette. The artisan dips the carved block into the dye and presses it onto the fabric, carefully aligning each block to create a continuous pattern. This process is repeated for each color, with precise registration required to ensure the pattern aligns correctly.
After printing, the fabric is left to dry, allowing the dye to set.
The printed fabric is washed to remove any excess dye and to set the colors. This process may be repeated multiple times.
Additional treatments may be used to ensure the colorfastness of the print. The fabric is then ironed or pressed to give it a smooth finish

Quality Check & Shipping

Quality control is essential to ensure that the final product meets the required standards in terms of design accuracy, color consistency, fabric quality, and overall craftsmanship.
During the production process, the printed fabrics are regularly checked for issues such as misalignment, smudging, or uneven color application
Each piece is examined for color accuracy and consistency, ensuring that the dyes are evenly applied and that there are no unintended variations in shade or intensity. Slight imperfections in block printing are common and often considered part of the charm and authenticity of hand-crafted textiles. These imperfections can arise from the manual nature of the process, where each piece is individually printed using hand-carved blocks
Once the quality check is complete, the products are carefully packaged to protect them during transit and ensure they arrive in perfect condition
